The AirAsia Philippine Patriots captured their sixth consecutive win Sunday, beating the Bangkok Cobras 70-62, in the ASEAN Basketball League at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Philippine Patriots upped their mark to 7-1 in the standings to remain on top of the leaderboard as they repeated their opening day victory over the Cobras, 86-58, last January 14.

As with their first win over the Cobras, the Patriots got a much-needed morale boost going into their game against the league’s other Philippine team, the San Miguel Beermen on Saturday, March 3, when they hope to avenge their sole loss, a 78-70 defeat incurred last January 21.

Anthony Johnson came up with 26 points and 13 rebounds, Ardy Larong had 13 markers and Warren Ybanez added 10 points for the Patriots.

The Cobras came ready to play, trailing by only four points after the first quarter, 20-16, and even shrinked that gap to two points to open the second period.

A 10-4 run put the Patriots ahead, 36-27, to end the first half before an 11-5 start increased their advantage to 47-32 in the third.
