The Malaysian national football team has arrived in the Philippines two days before they are set to take on the Philippine Azkals in a friendly match.

The Azkals are expected to have a tough time against the Malaysians when they play on Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.


Malaysia was the champion of the 2010 AFC Suzuki Cup and are ranked 150 by FIFA, while the Azkals are ranked 156th.

Meanwhile, Azkals first choice goal keeper Neil Etheridge also arrived in the Philippines from England last Sunday.

Rob Gier and Ray Johnsson are also expected to arrive from Europe. All three players are expected to play against Malaysia on Wednesday. – Report from Dyan Castillejo, ABS-CBN News
