Boxing bigwigs are arriving in Manila on Tuesday morning. Rising Filipino bantamweight Nonito Donaire, Jr. is planing in from San Francisco, while Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum and top trainer Freddie Roach are arriving from Las Vegas.

Donaire is coming off a devastating knockout win over Wladimir Sidorenko of Ukraine and is going to be accompanied by his wife Rachel in the trip.

Apart from Roach, who trains Manny Pacquiao, Arum will be with wife Lovee and stepdaughter Dena DuBoef as they are attending the 32nd birthday celebration of Pacquiao this Friday in General Santos City.

Giant TV station ABS-CBN is actually going to hold a celebration for the arrival of the Donaire, Arum and Roach, according to the station’s sportscaster Dyan Castillejo.

While in the Philippines, Arum would like to sit down with Pacquiao so they could finalize the details of the fight being planned for April 16 or May 7 next year.

Arum, who turned 79 last December 8, wants to have a deal in place by the time he returns to the US on December 19.

Meanwhile, Fernando Montiel, the Mexican sensation who will face the crafty and heavy-handed Filipino on February 19 in Las Vegas, revved up for that huge showdown with a second-round demolition of Giovani Soto.

After dispatching the overmatched Soto, Montiel boasted that he “will show everyone who’s exactly better (between him and Donaire in February).”
