A healthy Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista will be ready to wage war against Mexican veteran Genaro Garcia in Pinoy Pride XII: Bakbakan sa Bohol (Rumble in Bohol) this weekend.

Tony Aldeguer of the ALA Boxing Promotions told Philboxing.com’s Ronnie Nathanielsz that Bautista has already recovered from his foot injury and will be well equipped against Garcia this coming Saturday.

The injury was evident during Bautista’s IBF International title defense against Miguel Angel Mendoza last December. Although Boom Boom was able to knock out Mendoza, he moved relatively slow during the fight because of the injury.

After the bout, Bautista underwent operation for the injury.

Aldeguer said Boom Boom’s conditioning ahead of the Garcia fight has been excellent because the Boholano was able to do his road work.

Trainer Edito “Ala” Villamor said Bautista is likely to use more of his left jab against Garcia.

“[We] taught him how to set up the jab and use it effectively and impressed on him that balance is really important,” he said.

Bautista has a record of 32-2 with 24 knockouts, while Garcia has a win-loss slate of 38-8 with 22 KOs.

Pinoy Pride XII: Bakbakan sa Bohol will take place on Saturday at the Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex in Tagbilaran City.
