Jeremy Lin set a new career-high in assists and the New York Knicks rolled to their seventh straight victory, 100-85, over the Sacramento Kings.
Lin's streak of 20-plus scoring games ended, but he tallied a career-high 13 assists and six other players scored in double figures as the Knicks improved to a 15-15 record this season.
Landry Fields had 15 points, Steve Novak and Bill Walker both had 14 points, Amar’e Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert added 11 and Jared Jeffries also scored 10 points.
Lin had several assists that led to easy dunks for his teammates, allowing the Knicks to shoot 51% from the field for the game. They led by as much as 28 points against the Kings, who fell to 10-19 this season.
"I'm really happy with 10 points and 13 assists. That's great on a night like this, that's great," Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni told NBA.com.
"Next game Jeremy could have 30 points. Whatever we need him to do, I think he can do," he added.
The easy win allowed D’Antoni to rest his players, as no Knicks starter played more than 31 minutes.
"It was good to get some rest," Lin said. "I think we all needed it, so we were thankful we played less minutes tonight."
Lin became the biggest story in the NBA last week after leading New York to consecutive victories despite playing without injured All-Stars Carmelo Anthony and Stoudemire.
He became the first player in NBA history to tally at least 20 points and seven assists in his first five career starts, all of which were Knicks victories. He outscored Kobe Bryant in New York’s victory over the Lakers last week, netting a career-high 38.
But "Linsanity" reached its peak yesterday, when the former Harvard star rallied the Knicks in the final minute then drained the game-winning three-pointer against the Toronto Raptors.
Tyreke Evans led the Kings with 19 points, while DeMarcus Cousins added 15 points.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons used a torrid fourth quarter run to pull away from the Boston Celtics, 98-88.
The Pistons were ahead by one point, 73-72, at the end of the third quarter but used an 18-6 run in the fourth quarter to build a 93-80 lead.
Rodney Stuckey had 25 points, Greg Monroe and Ben Gordon both scored 22 points and the Celtics wasted a 35-point effort from Rajon Rondo.
In other games, the New Orleans Hornets defeated the Milwaukee Bukcs, 92-89, and the Minnesota Timberwolves trounced the Charlotte Bobcats, 102-90.
